Tricia Minty is a composer of concert music, electronic art music, and music for media, including music for film, animation, and videogames. Her chamber ensemble piece “Wicked Dreams” won the 2010 Thanatopolis Music Prize award. The piece was premiered at the Thanatopolis Exhibition at I-Park in East Haddam, Connecticut.
In addition to the Thanatopolis Music Prize award, her electronic piece “The Closing Corridor” was selected to be part of the 2010 ICMC mix of 360 degrees of 60x60, and premiered in the 2010 Dance Parade on Broadway in New York City. This mix has also had several international performances including a concert presented by The Ambient Ping in Toronto Canada, the 2010 International Sound Art Festival in Berlin Germany, and weekly performances at the Teo Libardo's gallery “Atelier Rouge Aubépine” in Lodève, France. Her electronic piece, “Rogue Souls” was also selected to be part of 60x60’s 2011 Athena Mix (60x60’s all female composer mix). “Rogue Souls” premiered at the Athena Festival at Murray State University. The Athena Festival was dedicated to music composed by female composers. In addition, she also recently composed her orchestra piece, Intervlas of Time for the California State University of Fresno Orchestra directed by Dr. Thomas Loewenheim. It was premiered in May, 2011.
Tricia Minty grew up in the small beach town of San Clemente in southern Orange County, California. She recently graduated with her Bachelors degree in Music Composition under the study of Dr. Kenneth Froelich in addition to a second major in Speech Language Pathology at Fresno State University. At age 24, Tricia resides in California as a freelance composer.
