Nancy Jo Baker said… Good morning,
Thank you for asking me to audition! Could you please tell me the time frame you're looking at for shooting? I would be interested, depending on time commitment.

Cheryl Stanfield said… absolutely! cheryl_stanfield@sbcglobal.net is the email. our email account is in my dad's name so you'll see 'harold silvani' in your inbox - don't be alarmed! ;) it's looking like there's a chance that we'll be shooting the demo in fresno, instead of los angeles. anyhow, i'm looking forward to explaining my project in greater detail. thanks!
Cheryl Stanfield said… hi again - i just responded to another actor's inquiry so i thought i'd just forward my comment to you as well - this explains the project in greater detail...
great! i'm trying to find a female lead for the demo reel. the 91-page pilot episode has been written and polished. we want to shoot the first two scenes and use that as a jumping off point for soliciting additional funding. we intend to cast the actual project at a later date but the demo reel actors will, of course, be consided for final casting. we just need to get some footage shot as a place to start.
the cast for the demo reel consists of the lead female, the lead male, and an additional male. and the locations are 'elevator', 'office reception area', and 'office'. basically, it's the meet-cute between the two protagonists - otherworldly beings, somewhat akin to what we understand as angels, who are living and working in the human realm. they have both been on the job since the dawn of humanity and their work consists of harvesting souls for either the 'lightness' (female lead, thirty-ish) or the 'darkness' (male lead, thiryfive-ish) of the universe. they are not the only beings of their type on earth but, until now, none of them have ever actually encountered another of their type. the pilot focuses on their meeting, a 'case' that they work together on, and their decision to continue working together. this is a character-driven project. both characters are flawed, quirky, sexually innocent, and conflicted in opposite ways. she's learned to love all that goes with being human - clothes, cars, houses, movies. she lives in a fabulous house and drives a rare classic car. her wardrobe is a succession of campy costumes designed to pay homage to her favorite, now dead, actresses and historical figures - think the character played by annie potts in 'pretty in pink' or melanie griffith in 'something wild'. she has a knack for making money. he is taciturn, handsome in an 'everyman' sort of way, a little schlumpy, and is immune to he seduction of 'things'. they are both quick witted, sometimes sarcastic, and come to enjoy verbally sparring. as the series progresses the real nature of their 'chance' meeting is revealed and they change each other in substantive ways.
since our film crew will probably be local to the LA area and both the lead and supporting actors who are already attached live there, we will probably shoot there as opposed to Fresno. this is not set in stone, however. we are storyboarding it now and we plan to have a very tight shooting schedule - one day - to get the two scenes. (from my lips to God's ears!)
do you have any video uploaded? we plan to do informal screen tests of any actors who are interested. we'll provide sides for the test. also, this is a paid gig. we can offer $100 for the day's shooting plus we will arrange transportation, even if it's just carpooling with me. if you'd like to chat further, you can call me at two-nine-nine-five-six-zero-two. finally, this is the first project i've ever cast and the process of looking at hundreds of head shots continues to be revealing. i came to understand what the characters look like by identifying what they don't look like - funny, huh? my female needs to look great in vampy makeup. she's smallish, darkish, cute-not-beautiful, has a certain definitive 'math' to her face, an expressive mouth and, of course, has that certain something on camera that says "I'm her! Pick me!"
I'll be home tonight after 9pm and again tomorrow evening. thursday and friday i'll be home all day and into the evening. hope to hear from you!
Cheryl Stanfield said… hi sirley - i just noticed that you went to fresno pacific. so did i! i was a natural science major, dr. braun was my advisor. my dad actually did some teacher training there years ago and in my former life (in educational publishing) i worked with the AIMS project. small world, huh? anyhow, if you're still interested in chatting about the movie project please give me a call. i am in between cellphones (decided to break down and get an iphone) so call the landline and leave a message!
Cheryl Stanfield said… great! we're creating an episodic teleplay and need to get a demo reel shot somewhere around the first of november. outside of 'the celebration' do you have any footage uploaded that i can see - on youtube or something? we should probably chat on the phone so i can fill you in. you can call me at two-nine-nine-five-six-zero-two. i'm in fresno all day today (i live in the foothills) but you're welcome to call after nine (if you're awake!) or anytime during the week. hope to talk with you soon!
Cheryl Stanfield said… i just tried to leave a comment for you but i think i lost it...anyhow, are you interested in testing for the lead female in a trailer which will be shot in the next few months? you're wecome to read the screenplay first. we will be shopping the trailer, looking for funding once it's done. the character is an angel...literally. it will be a fun part because she's offbeat and wears costumes that pay homage to her favorite screen stars and historical figures .
